A hybrid solution combines two or more WAN technologies — such as VSAT + OneWeb LEO + 4G LTE — managed by an SD-WAN router (typically Peplink). Traffic is load-balanced across all links, and failover is automatic and instant when any link drops.

Hybrid architectures often reduce costs by using cheaper LTE links near ports or coastal areas while satellite handles offshore connectivity. Organizations can downgrade to a smaller, lower-cost VSAT plan when supplemented by LEO or LTE.
