Point-to-point communication is one of the most prevalent applications of satellite technology. It is particularly suitable for static environments where communication requirements are well-defined. Point-to-point communication supports voice, data, and video communications between two locations within the same satellite coverage area. It offers a straightforward and efficient solution for leveraging satellite technology.
Satellite transmissions for point-to-point communications utilize two frequency channels on a satellite transponder: one for the forward link carrier and the other for the return link carrier. In SCPC mode (Single Channel Per Carrier), a single data channel is transported per carrier. These transmissions can occur at various rates, ranging from hundreds of kilobits per second to hundreds of megabits per second, and can utilize different types of interfaces such as RS 232, V35, and Ethernet.
Point-to-point communications via satellites enable the direct transmission of digital signals between specific points, providing flexibility and granularity without the need for multi-operator agreements. These connections can be established quickly and easily reconfigured, making them adaptable when site locations change. GCCSAT offers point-to-point solutions on both C band and Ku Band across different satellites, covering regions including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
